As urban mobility systems across the MENA region continue to evolve, taxis and shared mobility services are playing an increasingly strategic role in bridging gaps, improving first- and last-mile connectivity, and supporting more flexible, demand-responsive transport solutions.

UITP MENA’s Taxi and Shared Mobility Workshop will have a focused, high-level programme dedicated to exploring the shifting role of taxis and shared mobility modalities within the public transport ecosystem. Through a series of expert-led sessions and panel discussions, the programme will unpack current policy trends, regulatory frameworks, and operational best practices from across the region, with a strong emphasis on improving service quality, driver engagement, and integration within multimodal networks.

In addition to highlighting global and regional developments from UITP, the programme will spotlight the importance of driver-customer interactions and explore how evolving shared mobility models are shaping urban transport across the MENA region.

Why Attend?

As cities across the MENA region enhance their mobility systems; taxis and shared mobility services are moving from a standalone option to a more  integrated and innovation-driven part of public transport networks. This workshop will bring together regional and global experts to explore how the sector is adapting, modernising, and delivering smarter, more connected services.

Gain first-hand insights into MENA’s evolving taxi & shared mobility landscape with:

  • UITP updates and international perspectives on how new technologies, data integration, and service models are reshaping the role of taxis and shared mobility worldwide; and what these changes mean for MENA.
  • Case studies from Dubai to Jeddah, where you can hear from public transport authorities and operators on innovative approaches to integrating taxis into multimodal networks, improving first/last-mile connections, and setting higher service standards.
  • An exploration on how driver engagement, training, and digital tools are transforming the customer experience, turning drivers into frontline ambassadors for safe, reliable, and customer-focused services.
  • Shared mobility: policies, partnerships, and progress – learn from leading regional platforms and operators on how policy frameworks, data sharing, and public–private partnerships are enabling new mobility models, from e-hailing to ride-pooling, while maintaining quality, safety, and inclusivity.
  • Direct engagement with decision-makers, innovators, and industry leaders shaping the region’s taxi and shared mobility future. This workshop will be an opportunity to exchange insights, share solutions, and build partnerships that will drive the next wave of sustainable, tech-enabled urban transport.
